This one-of-kind, performance art-piece is a stunner. A hull surfboard has a convex bottom shape and planing surface. A traditional displacement board plows through and parts the water, but a planing hull is different. It essentially skims across the surface creating a fast and loose ride.

The decks of this board are made from a redwood hot tub salvaged in Aptos, California. flame maple offcuts from Meier Brothers Furniture Design, and wine-stained redwood tanks from the 1950s from Martini & Prati Winery (now Martin Ray Winery). We received the wine tank redwood from our Upcycle Partner, Mission Bell Reclaimed in Morgan Hill, California.
The translucent, glassed-on, single fin is made of soy-based Ecopoxy with merlot-colored tint from Black Diamond Pigments donated to us by Upcycled Skate Art. It has an inlay of corks from East End Gastropub in Capitola, California. The corks come from bottles of wine by: Alfaro Family Vineyards, Daou Vineyards, Dorcich Family Vineyards, Justin Wine, and Morgan Winery.
This board comes a Ventana wine stopper, a Ventana bottle opener, a Ventana wooden beer caddy, four bottles of Ser Winery's Ventana Surfboard Syrah, and four bottles of Humble Sea's Ventana Maple Dawn Patrol Pasty Stout (ABV 13%). The beer was inspired by the board and is showcased on the label!
The rails are made of cork which is more resistant to dings. The cork has merlot and white pin striping in a unique design. There are two sheets of Aerialite 4-ounce fiberglass on top and one on bottom. The epoxy is Entropy Super Sap 100 bio-resin which is up to 40% tree sap and is very strong and light.
As with all Ventana Surfboards, the interior is glassed and sealed, as well.
This board is hollow, lightweight and will ride as great as it looks. Given the uniqueness of each side, it's two art pieces in one.
Made in Santa Cruz, California by master artisan Martijn Stiphout.
Includes an aluminum, museum-quality 5"x7" display sign and a handmade bag by Sagebrush Board Bags created using coffee bean sacks and unique, remnant fabrics. It also includes a reclaimed wood floor stand.
